Why people buy and how businesses grow is what I think about for fun. I bring that obsession to the businesses that need it, and I love every part of it.

What I actually love is figuring out why people buy.

Consumer behaviour, positioning, the psychology under a decision, that's what I obsess over, whether professionally as a marketer or in my free time, walking the streets.

I turn that into growth for small and independent businesses: I look at the whole setup, find the real reason sales are stuck, and fix it, using evidence rather than guesswork.

The approach is the same whether I'm advising an independent owner or driving strategy inside a team. I care about one thing either way: moving the number that keeps a business alive.

Context

Liven World, a real estate group, exhibiting at PROVADA, Europe’s largest property fair.

Problem

Every developer there chases the same investors, funds and city officials. Getting the right people to actually sit down is the whole game.

Approach

I built and enriched a targeted list, then wrote over 1,000 personalised emails and ran the inbox and follow-up so nothing went cold.

Result

100+ conversations across the fair, including the Dutch Minister of Housing, major investors and municipal wethouders.

Context

A solo founder with a passion for clothes, wanting an independent fashion store she could run herself.

Problem

No store, no traffic, no revenue and no team. It had to be built from scratch and simple enough to hand over.

Approach

A conversion-first, theory-driven site, strong on-page SEO, and a first wave of Google and Meta ads, all set up for one person to maintain.

Result

Past €10,000 in the first year with solid organic rankings from launch, then handed over for her to run alone.

Context

BoneX, rebranding into BXFX, a crypto and commodities trading platform. I led the rebrand and ran the marketing.

Problem

Crypto is a crowded, low-trust space. Growing verified sign-ups meant earning trust and attention, not just buying reach.

Approach

I gave the brand a personality and put it everywhere: an educational cartoon series with the new mascot to make crypto approachable, an astronaut theme across the social content I managed, and guerrilla marketing that made the most of every public interaction. I also designed a BXFX Mastercard, launched with Mastercard, that donated to an LGBT charity on every transaction. Behind it, a €50K monthly budget across influencer partnerships and paid content.

Result

35% month-over-month growth in verified sign-ups, and a brand people recognised and trusted.

Why it works

Studies show that animated mascots lower buyer hesitation by making digital brands feel human. In Oh and Kim’s research on e-commerce interfaces, animated characters measurably raised shoppers’ sense of “social presence” and their intent to buy, beyond static logos. That is exactly what the cartoon series was built to do: make a complex, low-trust category feel warm and genuinely approachable.Oh & Kim, Administrative Sciences, 2025

Context

Hospitality is where I started, waiting tables during my studies, and it stuck. I help restaurants and independent venues sharpen how they run and grow.

Problem

Small venues rarely get real marketing or business thinking. Most run on gut feel, word of mouth and long hours.

Approach

For the restaurants I work with, I strategise like a client: lifting average order value and repeat visits, sharpening branding and tightening day-to-day operations. Alongside that, I built a hospitality concept of my own, from the positioning down to the numbers.

Result

My own concept is in the works for the future, with a business plan reviewed and approved by analysts.

Research-based marketing

This is the part I geek out on. Most small-business marketing is guesswork: copy a competitor, boost a post, hope. I start from evidence, what actually makes people buy, drawn from marketing science and consumer psychology.

It's the thinking behind a Master's in Marketing and a Bachelor's in International Business Administration, both from VU Amsterdam, and it's genuinely what I find fun, now brought to businesses that rarely get it.

Go with your gut. Which fries are you actually getting?

Studies show the decoy effect reliably swings people toward the pricier option it sits beside. In Dan Ariely’s classic experiment, one pointless extra choice moved the majority from the cheap pick to the expensive one, up to 84%.Ariely, Predictably Irrational · asymmetric dominance, Huber, Payne & Puto, 1982
